Have a (Social Media) Plan Man!
Do you have a social media plan to enhance your web presence? If not, you will need one in order to remain competitive. Social media marketing is a brand new concept to real estate and entirely different from anything we ever experienced. The customers are in charge, which is attributed to web 2.0 and the shift of how consumers want to participate. If we are slow to change or get actively involved in the shift, on their level, we will get smoked. It’s painful to watch the denial of some agents that are hoping that this social networking wave quickly dissipates. It’s growing in size and will be overwhelming, especially if you don’t attempt to keep up with it. Instead of getting wiped out, try riding the wave. Add your profiles and links to blogs, and social networking sites. Get involved in the “blogosphere” by following and interacting with other bloggers that really take advantage of every opportunity they can on the internet. Unfortunately/fortunately, social media marketing has to be done by the agent, since it’s the prime opportunity to talk directly to your potential clients and current clients. The great agents are finding out more about how their clients prefer to be communicated with, what type of information they want and how to effectively develop their relationships online. Once you work on social networking sites, you will quickly realize that it creates a potential drain on your time and that you need a plan. You need to evaluate the sites that give you the return you need and help you interact with those that you choose to interact with. Once you identify your ROI for your social media marketing you have to develop and stick to your plan to maximize your time and build your business. So, like any successful person, you need a plan. Not having one won’t ensure that you will fail, it will simply increase your odds.
